BMI View: We hold to our view that the onset of oil production in Ghana will drive a structural shift in the balance of payments, characterised by a move to a current account surplus and concomitant upside pressure on the currency. With strong foreign investment inflows likely to add fuel to the fire, we see the Ghanaian cedi appreciating over the medium term.
