BMI View: The Monetary Policy Committee of the Central Bank of Kenya kept the lending rate unchanged at 6.75% at its meeting on May 20. With inflation set to remain relatively benign over the medium term and the economic outlook still uncertain, we believe the central bank will continue to hold rates steady through 2010, in order to allow the 225 basis points worth of cuts made since November 2008 to feed through and nurture the economic recovery.
