April 2011 | Risk SummaryThe Egyptian cabinet granted approval for an additional EGP10bn (US$1.7bn) for the next three months with the aim of controlling food price inflation in mid-April. The draft supplement for financing subsidies still needs final approval from the Supreme Council for Armed Forces. Prime Minister Essam Sharaf has also ordered an increase in food supplies available at government cooperatives and other points of sale in order to bring down prices.
