Saudi Troops May Exacerbate Crisis
March 2011 | Political Risk AnalysisTensions throughout the Middle East have once again been raised, following reports that Saudi Arabia sent approximately 1,000 troops into Bahrain to help Manama guard government installations amid an uptick in public unrest. While large-scale protest activity largely subsided following the initial outbreak in demonstrations in February, this relative political calm has been disrupted in recent days after Shi'a protestors overran police and blocked a highway leading to Bahrain's main financial district.
