An Iranian flotilla comprising 120 students, clerics and activists, which had been planning to travel to Bahrain to support protesters there in May, abandoned its mission following an order by the Iranian government, local media sources reported. Mehdi Eqrarian, the organiser of the convoy, said that following requests from the authorities, a meeting was held and the organisers decided to halt the mission. Bahrain, which has seen a spike in sectarian tensions and public unrest, has accused Iran of provoking unrest and interfering with its affairs.
