Eastern Rebels: Where They Go From Here
May 2011 | Political Risk AnalysisThe outlook for Libya's interim Transitional National Council (TNC), effectively the de-facto government for rebel-held areas in the east of the country, remains relatively bleak. Although the TNC has already been recognized as the official Libyan government by France and Italy, tentative reports at the start of May which stated that Denmark and Spain had followed suit appear to have been premature. Indeed, for all of the support that the TNC would appear to have from the international community, for the moment Colonel Muammar Qadhafi's regime in Tripoli remains the official diplomatic representation of the country.
