Zimbabwean police were ordered by the courts to release Jameson Timba, a Movement for Democratic Change Cabinet minister, who had been arrested for allegedly insulting the office of the president. Mugabe's allies accuse Timba of insulting the president, an offence under Zimbabwe's draconian security laws, when he said that Mugabe had lied about the outcome of a recent regional summit on Zimbabwe. Timba was held for three days in late June without access to his lawyers, before being released in accordance with court's order.
