The Iranian government launched two long-range missiles into the Indian Ocean in February, according to reports by local news agencies on July 12 citing Amir Ali Hajizadeh, commander of the aerospace force of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards. Hajizadeh claimed that, if attacked, Iran could retaliate by targeting American aircraft carriers, described as 'moving targets', in the region. The two test missiles were fired from Semnan province located in the northern region of the country. Iran has been claiming that it possesses rockets with a range of 2,000km for some time.
