Indian spirits producer United Spirits plans to build a strong business in frontier economies including Angola through acquisitions, bottling arrangements and the setting up of greenfield plants. With early forays into relatively immature frontier markets and continued expansion in emerging markets, United Spirits is poised to grow strong revenues going forward. The news bodes well for bilateral relations between Angola and India, and bodes well for Angola diversifying its foreign investment sources away from China. At present, the Asian dragon has a strong presence in Angola due to its 'oil for infrastructure' deals.
