Saudi Arabia

The Saudi government has introduced a new anti-terrorism bill which would allow the government to impose harsh punishments on dissenters without giving them legal process. While the Saudi government has contained public protests within its borders thus far we note that the bill will do little to address longstanding grievances among the population. Though the political situation is likely to remain stable in the near term, we believe Riyadh will struggle to maintain stability over the long term.
