Lubanga's Trial Not Likely A Deterrent
August 2011 | Political Risk AnalysisBMI View: Although the conclusion of Thomas Lubanga's trial in the International Criminal Court is an important landmark for the court, it is unlikely to mean much for those who live in the DRC, where war crimes are still allegedly being committed. We are optimistic that conditions on the ground will gradually improve, but such a transition will depend much more on domestic initiatives than the threat of international penalties.
