Escalating Violence Represents Growing Security Challenge

BMI View: Terrorism is on the rise in Nigeria, with serious attacks on the northeast and Abuja reported on August 25 and 26. We maintain that the amorphous nature of terrorist groups in Nigeria means that they will be difficult to stop completely, and attacks are likely to continue, but they will ultimately be contained and do not pose a serious threat to overall stability.
