Harare's always-active rumour mill was in overdrive in September following the release of a fresh batch of US diplomatic cables by Wikileaks. The cables showed that almost all of the most senior ZANU-PF figures including both vice-presidents, the defence minister, the central bank governor and many others have been in contact with the US embassy over recent years divulging party secrets and discussing post-Mugabe Zimbabwe.
