The Kuwaiti cabinet passed a draft law on September 25 aimed at tackling corruption in government agencies and financial institutions. According to KUNA, the state news agency, the law includes articles on financial disclosure and money laundering, and introduces penalties of up to seven years in prison for offenders. The move comes following a large protest in Kuwait City on September 21, during which around 2,000 people gathered at a square outside parliament to demonstrate against alleged corruption in the country's government.
