Guinean president, Alpha Condé, has accused the Senegalese and Gambian governments of complicity in the failed July 19 attempt on his life. He claimed that the attack was planned in the Meridien President, one of Dakar's premier hotels. Senegal denies the allegations. Despite a long relationship dating from their time as opposition figures in the 1980s, relations between President Wade and President Condé soured when Wade supported Condé's opponent, Cellou Dalein Diallo, during the 2010 Guinean presidential election.
