The Mozambican government has issued a moratorium on the issuance of new mining licences in the Tete province which some believe may be home to the world's largest coal reserve. The authorities have issued 112 coal prospecting and mining licenses over the past two years and want to ensure that these are being properly utilised with plans to revoke any that are not.
