The government and other donors have reached an agreement to distribute about TZS81bn (US$45.81mn) in health budget support funds directly to public and private hospitals at grass-root level. The funding is expected to enhance access to health services and the speed of services in private and public hospitals. Hospitals have said money from this kind of funding has not reached them in the past, while the controller and auditor general said fraudulent projects have involved millions of shillings in unexplained expenses.
