Allegations cited as reasons for the annulment included multiple voting by supporters of the ruling party, disenfranchisement of opposition voters and ballot box stuffing. Of the 18 requests, 15 were rejected for lack of proof while three were withdrawn by the candidates themselves. The candidates who withdrew their requests did so because they felt that the government's actions indicated they were not being taken seriously.
