They deny corruption charges relating to abuses of office linked to the financial losses during the 2007 Commonwealth Summit in Uganda. They were to appear in the anti-corruption court to face the formal charges, but have since been released on bail. The trio said that they resigned so as to allow the court proceedings to take place without any interference.
