The Algerian people are growing increasingly angry about unemployment, poor housing and centralised decision-making, according to Mohamed Seghir Babes, an official linked to the government. The criticism came after a seven-month tour across the country which he undertook on behalf of President Boutaflika, which ended in December 2011.
