BMI View: Buoyed in large part by its vast mineral resources, Zambia has long enjoyed a relatively robust trade account surplus, keeping the overall current account well in the black. We expect this to continue, and we are forecasting a current account surplus of 7.8% of GDP in 2012, expanding to 8.6% in 2013.
