The Zambian government is seeking greater participation in the mining sector, with the state mining company, Zambia Consolidated Copper Mines Investments Holdings (ZCCM-IH), playing a more central role. According to Minister of Mines and Natural Resources Wilber Simuusa, the government's goal is 'to ensure that ZCCM-IH gets an active role in the mining sector, we want to break foreign dominance.' The company is looking to acquire at least two green field projects, and the government wants to increase its stake in mining companies to 35%.
