New regulations concerning the accommodation of foreign workers in Mauritius came into force on January 28. The minister of Labour, Industrial Relations and Employment, Shakeel Mohamed said 'the one-year moratorium given to recruiters to improve the accommodation to make the life of foreign workers better is over. Officers from my ministry will now conduct surprise visits to see if all the rules and regulations are respected and if the foreign workers as well as the Mauritian workers staying in the dormitories are staying in good conditions.'
