February 2012 | Risk SummarySeveral thousand people turned out in a number of Moroccan cities on February 20 to mark the one year anniversary of the country's Arab Spring protest movement. Approximately 1,000 people participated in a sit-in at Casablanca's main square, while around 1,500 people marched through the streets of Rabat, the capital city. The demonstrators were demanding further political reform, and criticized King Muhammed's constitutional reforms as inadequate. However, the turnout was significantly lower than that achieved throughout 2011.
