The Alliance for Democratic Change (ADC) became Tanzania's newest political party when it was provisionally registered by the Registrar of Political Parties on June 18. The establishment of ADC, which was founded by former members of opposition party Civic United Front, brings the number of registered political parties in Tanzania to 19. Critics argue that the large number of parties indicates that they are being formed for personal gain rather than on the bedrock of political ideology or a policy
