Yemen's troops have reportedly reclaimed the city of Jaar, which is believed to be the final stronghold of al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) in the country's southern Abyan province. Hundreds of AQAP militants have fled the town, though as of late-June some militants have continued fighting state forces. The government now has the Batis district of the city largely under its control, according to local sources.
