Speaking at the 19th Annual General Meeting of the Uganda National Association of Building and Civil Engineering Contractors, Prime Minister Amama Mbabazi has warned contractors against corrupt practices which he says have been a problem in the past. Mbabazi identified the practices of bribing to win contracts and offering gifts to public officials rather than meeting contractual obligations as particularly worrisome. He also criticised the domestic construction industry for not making the necessary investments to be competitive in the regional market, and for employing technicians rather than qualified
