July 2012 | Risk SummaryOn July 19, Emir Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Sabah approved a new four-man cabinet, which includes three ministers from the previous government. Sheikh Jaber Mubarak al-Sabah retains his role as prime minister, while Hani Hussein and Nayefal-Hajraf were reappointed as oil minister and finance portfolio, respectively. Rula Dashti, who becomes planning and development minister, is the only newcomer in the cabinet. The new government replaces the cabinet that resigned on June 25 following the dismissal of parliament by the constitutional court, and will serve as an interim government until new elections are scheduled later in the year.
