President Michael Sata offered his condolences to the people of Ethiopia and the ‘first family’ following the sudden death of the prime minister, Meles Zenawi, who succumbed to illness in Brussels late in August. Sata praised Zenawi, who he said had spent his life working tirelessly to promote peace and stability in the horn of Africa, and also commended him for his leadership in promoting African causes. Sata said that thanks to the late prime minister, Africa has achieved greater visibility as a ‘pole of growth’ in the ‘new world economic order’.
