Cairo Market Bomb

A bomb in Cairo in April, which led to the deaths of four tourists, was said by the government to be the work of an individual acting alone. Nevertheless, we see it as a cause for concern; this was the second fatal attack on tourists in Egypt in the past seven months, after seven years of relative calm. It appears to be symptomatic of growing anti-Western sentiment in Egypt - though direct attacks on tourists may not be supported by the many Egyptians who depend on tourist revenue.
