The international response to the February earthquake which left hundreds dead and thousands homeless in and around the northern port city of Al Hoceima has helped strengthen bilateral relations, especially with Spain. Yet perceptions of government failures in coping with the aftermath have led to significant domestic criticism of the authorities.
