Four opposition parties have applied jointly to the High Court to have the outcome of the November 2004 presidential and parliamentary elections reviewed. The elections resulted in a decisive victory for the incumbent South West Africa People's Organisation (SWAPO), which has ruled Namibia uninterrupted since independence. The claimants say that they have concrete evidence of fraud, including tampering with the electoral register, even though international observers declared the exercise broadly free and fair at the time.
