The government prides itself on the level of healthcare it provides but has been caught off-guard by a serious outbreak of polio that has so far killed 7 people and infected a further 27. The virus is most likely to have entered Namibia from Angola, and has been found to be of a strain common in India, one of the handful of countries that has never managed to stamp-out polio.
