The security situation has taken a dramatic turn for the worse with anti-government protests in the capital and ‘irregular activity’ on the disputed Eritrean border. With military manoeuvres on both sides of the UN-patrolled Temporary Security Zone (TSZ), fears are rising of a resumption of the conflict which cost 70,000 lives between 1998-2000.
