November 2006 | Ratings UpdateThe shoring up of the March 14 government, which is likely to result from the assassination of Pierre Gemayel, is good news for investors and good news for international allies such as the US. However, although the anti-Syrians have the upper hand for now, the perceived under-representation of the Shi'a of south Lebanon is a problem which will not go away. Not only did they suffer the brunt of the damage in last summer's Israeli attacks, but their political leaders have resigned from the government and are deeply unpopular abroad. We doubt the community will take this situation lying down,
