November 2006 | Risk SummaryWhile President Robert Mugabe continues his quest for financial help from countries such as Iran, which he visited recently, Zimbabwe remains largely isolated from the mainstream international donor community. Most bilateral aid is suspended, while multilateral givers such as the UN World Food Programme are finding it very difficult to raise the funds needed to provide emergency humanitarian assistance on the scale required. The latest blow came by way of the rejection of an application for support from the Global Fund for malaria, TB and HIV/AIDS. No reason was given for the rejection, but many donors are wary of corruption
