The government has said that it intends to invest more in its Central Statistical Office, but we are not holding our breath. Officially, the only figures that come out regularly are for CPI. According to the figures y-o-y CPI stayed roughly unchanged in October at 1,070.2%. The true figure is most likely higher, but with shortages, price controls and data obfuscation, it is very difficult to pin down exactly. The parallel F/X market continues to weaken with little transparent supply in evidence.
