Macroeconomic Forecast Qatar
January 2007 | Macroeconomic ForecastsBMI View: We see strong economic expansion over the remainder of the forecast period, and expect growth to come in around 6.9% in 2006, before accelerating to 8.08% next year, peaking at 8.46% in 2008, and decelerating over the following years. Gas production will provide the thrust of expansion, while the non-hydrocarbon sector will take on an increasing proportion of GDP over the coming years. We see the construction, financial services and tourism as key drivers of the non-hydrocarbon sector going forward.
