Expansionary fiscal policies and strong growth are leading to inflationary pressures in Algeria. The consumer price inflation (CPI) index jumped to 3.2% y-o-y in August, the highest figure since April 2004. Though still relatively low compared to other regional neighbouring states, we forecast average inflation will reach 2.5% in 2007.
