Two More Years For Mugabe

President Robert Mugabe has ruled Zimbabwe uninterrupted since 1980. Now aged 82, he has recently suggested that he would like to retire at the end of his current term in 2008. However, this presupposes that the ruling ZANU-PF party would unite behind a chosen hand-picked successor. In Mugabe's eyes, he and ZANU-PF are one and the same thing, a sentiment based on long-past struggles against white rule in the then Rhodesia.
