January 2007 | Risk SummaryThere has been a marked rise in the political temperature overthe last month, with the sacking of vice-President Atiku Abubakar, and his refusal to accept this decision, bringing into question the stability of the country's constitution. With only seven years of democratic rule in the country, the divisions and wrangling between key state players ahead of presidential elections in April is a major worry for political stability. As a result, we have revised down our short-term political risk rating, due to a downgrade in our 'succession'
