Macroeconomic Forecast Ghana

January 2007 | Macroeconomic Forecasts

BMI View: The Ghanaian economy is on a benign growth path, and we expect macro-economic stability to be further consolidated over the forecast horizon. Inflationary pressures look set to subside and settle in the single digits over 2007, aided by a stable cedi and milder oil prices. Meanwhile, the fiscal picture is steadily approaching more balanced territory, and we have pencilled in an overall deficit of 2.6% of GDP this year. Furthermore, we expect the current account deficit to gradually contract, presently projecting a shortfall equivalent to 5.6% of GDP in 2007.
