January 2007 | Political Risk AnalysisMorocco's political reform progress, albeit not revolutionary, is certainly more impressive than any other by regional standards. The country has taken a lead on extending women's rights as well as promoting a more liberal political environment though taboos such as discussion of Islam, the royal family and the Western Sahara dispute remain. A key problem, however, is that the uncertainty with regards to the boundaries of political life may cause a degree of instability that could be avoided with an entrenched framework of laws that clearly define acceptable forms of political behaviour.
