February 2007 | Risk SummaryIn December 2006, after months of negotiations, the UN Security Council (UNSC) passed a resolution for the imposition of sanctions on Iran which relate to the country's nuclear programme, and has set the compliance date for February 20. We expect this deadline to pass without a significant shift by Tehran. It is likely therefore that negotiations between the P5+1 group of major powers will continue for another four to five months, with Russia and China reluctant to take sterner measures against the Islamic Republic.
