Anti-Inflation Measures Insufficient
February 2007 | Economic AnalysisBMI View: Embattled by inflationary pressures, the Iraqi monetary authorities are seeking to bolster confidence in the currency and tweak interest rates where necessary. Yet the Central Bank of Iraq's attempts to contain price rises through such instruments will be circumscribed. However, reserves should be sufficient to prevent a run on the dinar.
