Relations between President Robert Mugabe's government and the IMF are near rock bottom. However, this was not always the case: during much of the 1990s the Fund and Mugabe governments worked well together, helping to make Zimbabwe one of the most internationally creditworthy countries in Africa. But during the current decade the relationship has turned extremely sour.
