March 2007 | Risk SummaryWe do not expect Morocco's progress to be derailed following the 2007 parliamentary elections, when the opposition Islamist leaning Justice and Development Party (PJD) looks likely to make a strong showing. Ultimate power will remain with the president and given that Morocco's electoral system will necessitate a coalition, the real power of the PJD will be limited. As such, we remain less concerned than others regarding a potential Islamist threat and have not adjusted Morocco's political risk profile.
