March 2007 | Risk SummaryDespite ongoing terrorist activity we see risks to Algerian political stability remaining limited given public fatigue with further violence against the backdrop of years of civil war and the relatively limited number of active militants in question. Progress is being made in terms of national reconciliation, with former Islamists declaring their support for the process, and the oil boom has created the resources to effect economic transition in a country which has dangerously high levels of unemployment. With massive reconstruction efforts underway and expansionary fiscal policy, we see growth levels remaining robust, averaging around 5% annually over the forecast
