We remain bullish on Kenya's growth outlook, and the upside surprise in tea output is a welcome indication that the key agricultural sector is healthily rebounding following the subdued performance in the initial months of 2006. Our 2006 estimate for real GDP growth is likely to end up being a little on the low side, at 5.1%, and the government is expecting expansion of closer to 6.0%. The number of tourists arriving into the country grew by around 13.9% y-o-y over the January to November period in 2006, looking set to post robust growth the year as a whole.
