March 2007 | Risk SummaryThe political atmosphere in Kenya is becoming increasingly tense, with the opposition ODM-Kenya party making strides toward choosing its presidential candidate. The opposition has already threatened to attempt halting the elections going ahead if the government does not make moves toward implementing constitutional reforms ahead of elections, and the Kibaki administration is unlikely to make many conciliatory moves on this front. The Kibaki administration is likely to step-up its campaigning, and has in fact already published pamphlets outlining the government's achievements over the last few years.
